Art Off Center: Building Community via Clay

Welcome to Art Off Center! Art Off Center is a ceramics studio specializing in teaching pottery wheel, hand building, sculpture and surface decoration and other various pottery classes  in downtown Taylor, Texas. Look for the Taylor Art’s Graffiti Wall on Potter’s Alley and you’re in the right place! Art Off Center emphasizes learning and creating in clay via group events, classes, workshops, and community support.

Art Off Center-Handmade Pottery

Above all, at Art Off Center, we focus on small class sizes and individual learning. Therefore, each student and artist will have a unique experience while learning the craft of ceramics. Not only do you learn how to make various pieces of handmade pottery and wheel thrown ceramics, you are encouraged to enhance your problem solving skills.  As a result, you will increase your confidence while exploring the various methods involved in pottery: construction, scale, decoration and glazing.

We have classes year round for teens and adults via our normal schedule of classes that range from single evening class, specialty workshops and multi-week group classes. The ongoing rotation of classes includes Pottery Wheel Basics, Hand Building Class and Sculpture Class. We’ve also got Surface Decoration Workshop series that focuses on decoration techniques on leather hard clay or bisque.

Specialty Classes

In addition, we also have specialty classes and events to try clay out for the first time. Contact us to schedule a group class or private event for friends and or organizations (Girl Scout or Boy Scout Troop). We can also organize group events,  or a fun “Paint with a Twist” BYOB Claydies night out to paint a bisque project with friends, please call us to set up these events.
