Raku Firing
January 25, 2025
5:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Raku Firing on Potter’s Alley! Participants learn to prepare, glaze & fire their pieces in a Raku kiln. Explore multiple colors and surfaces, achievable with Art Off Center’s selection of Raku glazes.
Come in during our Open Studio times to make, create and glaze your piece. All pieces MUST be bisqued fired first prior to the scheduled firing days.
To avoid problems with cracking we recommend using a stoneware with grog. AOC stocks a Raku Soldate clay for this purpose.
Purchase a slot/time and bring your bisqued pieces for the scheduled time. Please arrive early to glaze your pieces! First kiln firing will start loading around 5:30p, so arrive early to learn about the kiln, setup and how to load.
Price includes all instruction, firing, gloves, tongs, glazes and equipment use.
Requirements:
-Pieces can not be larger than 5-6” diameter with a height up to 12” work best for approximately ½ cubic feet kiln space
-Fired bisque piece must be bisqued prior to firing day
-Bisque firing fees not included in Raku Firing costs
