Creative Kilnworks Raku Firing Workshop

Raku Firing Workshop at Creative Kilnworks in Bastrop, TX!

The Raku workshop includes glazing your bisque, fun raku recipes, instructions on firing and post-firing reduction, and then of

course the firing. Types of raku kilns and burners will also be discussed. Number of pieces and size requirements are discussed in the participant email. An option to purchase pre-made bisqueware is also available.

Come in during any of our Open Studio times to make and create your pieces. All pieces MUST be bisqued fired first prior to the scheduled firing days. Bisque charges due at pickup

To avoid problems with cracking we recommend using a stoneware with grog. AOC stocks a Raku Soldate clay for this purpose.

Requirements:

-Pieces can not be larger than 4-5” cubic inches

-Fired bisque piece must be bisqued prior to firing day

-Bisque firing fees not included in Raku Workshop costs

-Wear comfortable clothes for firing, closed toe shoes required

Experience: Intermediate level+
