Thanks to our “black gumbo”—as the locals once called the thick, dark soil—the rich farmland around our northeast fork of our Union Pacific rail line has been abuzz with agricultural activity for over a century. A diverse cast of creative and industrious settlers from all four corners have added to the unique flavor of the east-central Texas Blacklands—a legacy we celebrate with a raise of the glass (and fork) !
