A six-week session that covers the traditional skills of wheel throwing on the pottery wheel and hand building. Beginners will complete a mug, bowl and plate form, covering the basics of wedging, centering, forming cylinders, trimming, pulling handles, surface development and glazing techniques. Those with
previous experience will work on larger forms, throwing off the hump, textures on the wheel or work on independent projects with guidance. Decorating with underglazes, stamps and various decorative techniques will also be covered. The class fee includes instruction, clay, tools, all firings, and use of studio glazes. 25 lb limit on clay for class and Open Studio practice times, overages will be charged at current studio firing services rates. Typically, depending on experience, students will complete 6-10+ finished pieces during the session.
Levels: Beginner and Intermediate
Great class for beginners ages 14+
Registration and Refund Policies:
- Tuition is due in full at time of registration.
- Workshops with insufficient enrollment will be cancelled, participants will be moved to next session.
- Students are allowed one makeup session during schedule Open Studio times, please arrange with instructor
- Workshop registrants must be a minimum age of 14+.
- Art Off Center reserves the right, if necessary to cancel the workshop due to unforeseen circumstances. Participant workshop fees will be fully refunded.
- Art Off Center can not be held responsible for travel arrangements.
